Dublin Fringe Festival 2017 Preview: I’m 14 years old, I’ve seen a lot, but this year I have spent more time than I would have liked in a DPD van being shuffled between Cork and Dublin.
I get a lot of admiration from other users - my owner gets stopped regularly and asked where did she get me. Same place she gets all her other chairs. Sometimes I think she is jealous that I get so much attention, that people see me before they see her, other times it feels like we are the perfect team.

She is making a new show. We have been in lots of shows together, performed in loads of places, but this is the first time that she is choreographing, she is in charge. I think she likes it. This week is pretty intense, there is a new person in the rehearsal room, with lots of sound equipment.

I have gotten used to the other three in the room, they sit in me all the time, a bit too much if you ask me, but I suppose I am designed for sitting, so it’s no great hardship. They are doing a lot of other strange things too that I am not designed for; battling obstacle courses, stripping me bare, chucking me around and more stuff that I couldn’t even begin to describe, you will have to come and see the show.

The new person is adding a lot of sounds and a lot of music and all the others are laughing a lot, talking a lot and then taking my wheels off a lot. The latter is my least favourite part. To be honest, I am getting a bit sick of the whole thing, but audiences are loving it. I hear them say things like’, ‘ I never thought I could say that, let alone think it’ or ‘ gosh that was mad craic’ and ‘I hope that hot dancer is single’. Well you heard it here first, straight from the wheelchairs mouth! They are single!
Don’t be looking!!! runs until the 16th in Project Arts Centre as part of Dublin Fringe - the show stars myself, Sarah Ryan, Marion Cronin, Leonie McDonagh and choreographer Mary Nugent. Get your tickets - they are selling wheely quickly - here.
