It's that time of year again, when what we all want to hear is great festive choral favourites. Well, RTÉ lyric fm can confirm that there is no shortage of christmas choristers around the island of Ireland - over 100 amateur choirs entered this year's 17th annual RTÉ lyric fm Choirs for Christmas Competition.

Participation involves recording the choir's own performance of a festive work for RTÉ lyric fm.  A selection of entrants are then chosen for on-air broadcast. Participating choirs range from primary school through to third-level choirs, workplace choirs, barbershop choirs, gospel choirs, church choirs and choral unions.
