Katie’s powerful new collection charts the years of her husband’s throat cancer and death in poems that are searingly honest about grief and guilt. Other poems celebrate the joy of motherhood and moments of family life with her children.

Katie joins Rick on the Poetry Programme this Saturday, 29 October, at 7:30 pm on RTÉ Radio 1. Also on the programme, Doireann Ní Ghríofa reads poems of grief in Irish by Caitríona Ní Chleirchín and Máire Mhac an tSaoi, and poet and biographer Terese Svoboda introduces us to the neglected Irish-born poet Lola Ridge.
