There have been many attempts made in recent times by communities and local authorities who want to change the mood music around traffic congestion, pollution and green transport in their areas. We've covered many of these in Brainstorm in the past few years - such as the D7 Play Streets initiative which turned a street into a playground - and there's certainly no end in sight to such initiatives.
One of these is Bikehood, which proposes to create Ireland's first cycling neighborhood. It aims to transform communities by promoting cycling and walking while enhancing infrastructure to tackle traffic congestion, pollution, and inequality.
In this week's Brainstorm podcast, we take an indepth look at this project with presenter Ella McSweeney talking to Dr Gavin McArdle from the School of Computer Science at UCD and National Centre for Geocomputation at Maynooth University and Prof Francesco Pilla from the School of Architecture, Planning and Environmental Policy at UCD.
