The Late Late Show Communication Difficulty

If you have a communication difficulty arising as a result of a disability and would like to register for a chance to receive audience tickets to this year's Late Late Toy Show (2025) via our Big Ticket Giveaway the following options are available:

OPTION 1 - For those who do NOT wish to make their disability known to the viewing audience

You can participate in the giveaway via the online application and nominate an individual to take the phone call on your behalf. This information must be clearly presented with your entry as follows:

<your name> CD CALL NOMINATE <name of the individual who will take the call on your behalf and their relevant contact phone number>

For example:

Application Tipperary from Sharon Smith CD CALL NOMINATE Paul Smith 08X 000 0000

Please note by nominating an individual to take the call on your behalf the usual rules will apply and that individual must be available to take the phone call from your chosen RTE show on your behalf, otherwise they forfeit your opportunity to win.

You must seek the permission of the nominated individual before participating in the giveaway and ensure that s/he agrees to take the call on your behalf. The nominated person will simply be required to accept the prize on your behalf during the live on-air phone call.

By taking the call, the nominated person is in no way entitled to the prize or a share of the prize. The prize will be awarded to the entrant as specified on the text entry and not the call nominee.

With a view to protecting the individual's right to privacy, the presenter will not reveal during the phone call that a nominee is accepting the prize on behalf of the winner due to the winner being unable to complete this requirement as a result of a disability. However, RTÉ cannot be held responsible where the nominee volunteers this information during the live on-air phone call. Given this will be a live unscripted call, RTÉ cannot guarantee that nominee or disability information will not be revealed to the viewing/listening audience, however RTÉ will make every effort to avoid this where possible.

The nominee can still participate in the giveaway on his/her own behalf and is in no way precluded from entering as a result of agreeing to take the call on behalf of an individual with a communication difficulty. If the nominee is selected to take the call on behalf of an individual with a communication difficulty this will be communicated to them ahead of the live on-air phone call element.

OPTION 2 - For those who have no issue revealing their disability to the viewing/listening audience

If you would prefer NOT to nominate an individual to take the phone call from your chosen RTE show on your behalf please specify with your text entry that you are unable to take the call due to a communication difficulty. This information should be clearly presented with your entry as follows:

<your name> DO NOT CALL CD

For example:

Application: Tipperary from Sharon Smith DO NOT CALL CD

Should you select this option and should you be drawn as a successful application (having provided the correct answer), the presenter will announce you as a successful applicant. The presenter will not complete a live on-air phone call. However, in the spirit of fairness and transparency, the presenter may explain to the viewing audience that the phone call element has been discounted on this occasion since the individual is unable to take the call due to a communication difficulty arising as a result of a disability.

WITH REFERENCE TO BOTH OPTIONS, PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING:

Both options are only open to those with a communication difficulty arising as a result of a disability (including members of the deaf community or those with a speech impediment).

RTÉ reserve the right to request proof of disability, which for this purpose may require certified medical doctor's letter. In cases where disability is not proven, RTÉ reserve the right to award the tickets to the next eligible participant.

To avail of either option the information contained within your application must be presented exactly as above incorporating the wording 'CD CALL NOMINATE' or 'DO NOT CALL CD' otherwise your entry will be deemed invalid. In both options the letters CD signal a communication difficulty to RTÉ's competition coordinators. Required entry information is not case sensitive and can be presented either in upper or lower case.

RTÉ's standard competition terms and conditions and specific audience ticket terms apply.

RTÉ reserves the right to review and change these options at any time, subject to operational, editorial or audience considerations.
