After more than 25 years of episodes, the ITV police drama 'The Bill' will end tonight.
The Press Association reports that fans have been promised a "compelling" finale, with a storyline about a teenage girl who is involved in the murder of a 14-year-old suspected gang member.
Executive producer Johnathan Young said: "The series will conclude this summer with a compelling contemporary story that tests our cops on the streets of London both physically and emotionally for one final time. It's called 'Respect' and we hope it will respect the heritage of the show."
'The Bill' was launched as a series in 1984 following the success of a one-off drama, 'Woodentop', which featured the same characters a year earlier.
The final episode airs on UTV at 9pm and will be followed by a documentary, 'Farewell The Bill', at 11pm.
