A modern star of the sport, Wexford's Aoife Wafer is one of the brightest sparks in the game at the moment.
Originally starting out with Gorey RFC’s minis teams, Wafer only moved to the back row in her teenage years.
A former Ireland under-18s captain, she made her Ireland debut during the 2022 Six Nations.
Two years later she made her first start in the same competition, announcing herself to the world stage in Ireland’s wins over Wales and Scotland.
Wafer scored two vital tries in Ireland’s WXV1 win over New Zealand last September, helping her to make the World Dream Team at the 2024 World Rugby Awards.
Wafer’s good form continued into 2025 where she would win the Women’s Six Nations Player of the Championship award.
