Munster born, but a Connacht legend, Edel McMahon found rugby by accident, and Ireland have been grateful ever since.
An All-Ireland intermediate ladies Gaelic football champion with Kilmihil at just 13, McMahon took up rugby during her time studying in Galway.
She first represented Galwegians but departed for England and lined out for Wasps and Exeter since then.
McMahon won her first senior cap for Ireland back in 2018 and had the honour of captaining her country to a seismic win over New Zealand in 2024.
She has been squad co-captain since 2023.
