Meath's AIG O’Connor Cup history-maker Ciara Smyth been honoured with The Croke Park Hotel/LGFA Player of the Month award for March.

Smyth was a key member of the TU Dublin team that won the prestigious title for the very first time with victory over DCU Dóchas Éireann on 14 March.

From the Skryne club in Meath, 21-year-old was to the fore across the competition for the newly-crowned champions. She contributed five points, including four from play, as TU Dublin defeated UCC after extra-time by just a single point in a gripping semi-final.

In a 0-12 to 2-4 victory in the final, Smyth delivered a player of the month performance, kicking four points, including three from frees, as the Dublin side got over the line.

Smyth's exploits earned her a place on the 2026 AIG HEC All-Star selection.

She was also on the scoresheet during Meath’s Lidl National League fixtures against Cork and Armagh this month, as the Royal County preserved top-flight status.

Thoughts for Smyth and Meath now switch to the forthcoming TG4 Leinster and All-Ireland Senior Championship campaigns.
