Meath defender Mary-Kate Lynch is the latest player to join an AFLW club after being signed as an international rookie by the Sydney Swans.
A two-time All-Ireland winner and All-Star with the Royals, Lynch has signed on for the 2026 season that begins on 10 August.
The 24-year-old had impressed at an AFLW national draft combine, with her speed catching the eye.
"We're thrilled to welcome Mary-Kate to Sydney and the club," Kate Mahony, Sydney Swans executive general manager of AFLW Football, told the club website.
"We think the skills she’s developed playing Gaelic football will translate well to AFLW, and we’re excited to bring someone with her speed and defensive attributes into our squad."
Lynch’s arrival brings Sydney’s Irish contingent to four with Tanya Kennedy (Donegal) and Kerry pair Paris McCarthy and Julie O’Sullivan already with the Swans.
Over 40 Irish players are expected to be involved in the league for the 2026 season.
