A record five Irish players have been selected on the All-Australian AFLW team of 2025, unveiled at the W awards in Melbourne yesterday evening.
Bláithín Bogue, Jennifer Dunne, Niamh McLaughlin, Áine McDonagh and Dayna Finn were all named on the 21-strong team, marking the largest Irish representation on the team since Orla O'Dwyer was the first to be named in 2022.
The team was announced ahead of this weekend's AFLW Grand Final, in which Bogue and Dunne will face off against each other, for North Melbourne and Brisbane Lions respectively.
Fermanagh's Bogue, in her debut season for the defending champions, kicked three goals for North Melbourne as they defeated Melbourne last weekend.
Dunne, a four-time All-Ireland winner with Dublin, who won both the AFLW and All-Ireland titles in the same year in 2023, is seeking her second Premiership crown, lining up alongside O'Dwyer and Kildare's Neasa Dooley.
Mayo's Finn (Carlton) is selected at midfield, Galway's McDonagh (Hawthorn) is at half-forward, while Donegal's McLaughlin is named on the interchange bench.
Last year, Aisling McCarthy, Aishling Moloney and Aileen Gilroy were all named on the team. Mayo's Niamh Kelly was previously selected on the 2023 side after O'Dwyer became the first Irish player to be honoured in 2022.
