Last year's Munster runners-up Comeragh Rangers from Waterford are through to the provincial decider again this season as action continued in the race for AIB All-Ireland senior club ladies championship at the weekend.
The Waterford champions will meet Southern Gaels from Kerry in the Munster final with both clubs bidding to win the title for the first time when they meet in Mallow next Sunday (3.30pm).
Second half goals from Ava Connolly and Eileen Power helped Comeragh Rangers defeat Clare’s Kilmihil by 2-14 to 2-2 to book their place in the final.
Kerry champions Southern Gaels also produced a strong second half display when a goal from Katie Foster saw them pull away with the wind behind them to notch a 2-10 to 0-3 win.
Meanwhile, AIB All-Ireland final runners-up last season Kilmacud Crokes are through to the semi-finals of the Leinster championship after seeing off Portlaoise by 3-15 to 0-5. A goal from Eabha Rutledge helped them lead by 1-8 to 0-5 at the break and they pulled away after the restart with goals from Amy Conroy and Michelle Davoran sealing the win.
They will now meet Dunshaughlin Royal Gaels in the semi-finals after the Meath champions defeated Ballinamear Durrow of Offaly by 5-12 to 2-10.
They laid the foundation for victory in the opening half when goals from Rachel Dooner, Niamh McEntee, Elena Kennedy and Meadhbh Byrne, who also found the net in the second half, helped them lead by 4-7 to 0-6 at the break. Saorah Doyle and Una O’Brien had second half goals for the Offaly champions but they were unable to catch the Meath side.
Tinahely, who won their 11th consecutive Wicklow SFC title this year, advanced to the Leinster semi-finals when they defeated Carlow’s Old Leighlin by 2-5 to 1-7.
All the goals came in the opening half with Aobha Harmon and Shannagh Goetelen finding the net for Tinahely who led by 2-2 to 1-4 at the break, with Kate Burke getting the goal for the Carlow champions.
They will now meet Milltown in the last four after the Westmeath side saw off St Laurence’s from Kildare by 1-7 to 0-6. A goal from Leanne Slevin helped Milltown lead by 1-1 to 0-3 at the break.
Both semi-finals will take place next weekend with the Leinster final scheduled for November 9 at Glenisk O’Connor Park in Tullamore.
Meanwhile, Leitrim champions Glencar Manorhamilton will take on Eoghan Rua of Sligo in the Connacht senior semi-final this Bank Holiday Monday.
The semi-finals of the Ulster championship will take place next weekend. Title holders Clann Éireann of Armagh, who defeated Fermanagh’s Derrygonnelly Harps by 5-11 to 0-9 in a midweek refixture, will take on Antrim’s St Ergnats Moneyglass while Lurgan from Cavan will meet Tyrone’s Errigal Ciaran in the other semi-final.
