Meath have appointed Wayne Freeman as their new manager ahead of the 2026 season.
He takes over from Shane McCormack, who guided the Royal women to this year's All-Ireland final, where they were beaten by Dublin at Croke Park.
After his own playing career was cut short by injury at the age of 21, Freeman went on to manage Louth, with a Division 4 league title being the highlight of his three-year term.
He then moved on to Clare, where he guided the Banner to a Division 3 title, before taking up a coaching role with Meath under McCormack.
"I am very happy to accept the opportunity to manage this brilliant group of players," he said of his appointment
"I thoroughly enjoyed working with the group as the head coach throughout 2025, and I am excited about building on the foundations we've built as a group, continuing to develop and improve in 2026."
The Royals will start the year in Division 1 of the Lidl National Football League, a competition which they won in 2022.
That was the same year as their most recent All-Ireland triumph, which was their second consecutive - and second overall - Brendan Martin Cup.
