Hannah Tyrrell still providing an exhibition in efficiency for Dublin

From frees, play, scoring and creating - even off limited touches - the pace-setter in the race for the Golden Boot award is so hard to handle.

"That's my job", Dublin's Hannah Tyrrell told journalists after kicking the pressure free from essentially the two-point arc to help her team into this afternoon's All-Ireland football final.

In nailing the final kick of normal time, Tyrrell kept her team's season alive, before they pushed on to beat Galway in extra-time 3-14 to 2-14. She slotted five frees and a penalty in as many attempts at O'Connor Park, Tullamore, meaning she comes into the season finale having missed just one free in her last five matches. That's from 19 attempts including penalties - leaving her with 4-14 from a possible 4-15.

Tyrrell has provided 35% of Dublin's overall scores en route to this final against Meath.

When reviewing the 34-year-old corner-forward's games from the Leinster final win over Meath onwards - and also accounting for her assists - that contribution rises to 45% of Dublin's total.

One of Dublin's all-time great forwards, she has scored 85% of her total shots in those games - missing just six of 34 attempts, including only three wides.

Across that provincial decider against Meath, Dublin's group games against Leitrim and Waterford, their All-Ireland quarter-final victory over Cork, and then the semi-final against Galway - Tyrrell has scored 7-27 and assisted 1-04.

Therein she's coming into this All-Ireland final against the Royals with an average of almost 1-07 per match across the previous five games, and at least 0-01 in assists.

Of that overall scoring average, from play alone the Na Fianna attacker is averaging 1-01 per match, with the rest coming from frees. Her total in those past five games from play is 3-13, wherein she has a shooting accuracy of 76% - converting all but five of her 21 shots, with one dropping short.

Tyrrell has been providing an exhibition on efficiency. Against Galway she had just three first-half possessions from play and five overall yet was involved in 1-03. In the second half she had another six involvements from play and nine overall. Across the entirety of normal time then, off 14 possessions she was involved in 1-06.

In extra-time she had another eight possessions from play and frees included, and was involved in a further 1-03. Meaning from the 22 times she was on the ball in Dublin's biggest game of the year so far, her team scored 2-09. Which was 65% of their total.

Those included a penalty ruthlessly dispatched to the bottom left corner, a brilliant point from play, a kick-pass assist, a free from distance to force extra-time and winning a dropping shot and providing the secondary assist for the game's decisive back-heel goal by Carla Rowe.

All topped off by a brilliant turnover tackle at a key moment in extra-time to inspire her team mates. From the 15 touches in-play and the seven frees she stood over, she never once misused possession and the only ball she technically gave away was a missed shot from play in extra-time. Her solo wide of the game coming from the edge of the D after a sharp one-two. She was also involved in two more scoring opportunities that were missed by her teammates.

In the 2-13 to 1-12 Leinster final victory, it took almost 10 minutes for Tyrrell to get her first touch when she had a shot blocked down. She then bagged 1-01 in the first half to keep her team in the contest before adding two pointed frees and scoring and assisting another point after the change of ends.

The win over Leitrim was her highest scoring game with two penalties and a total of 3-07. Including assists that was an impressive 4-09. It then took 18 minutes for her first touch against Waterford, but when she was finally involved she bagged a quickfire 1-01 as Dublin salvaged a draw.

The former Irish rugby international out-half has been more than just scoring for her team, she's also provided her fair share of assists. She has assisted the impressive Niamh Hetherton for 0-03 - and together the duo are providing a serious aerial threat in the full-forward line. Those three assists came in the Leinster final, against Leitrim and then against Galway. Tyrrell also set up Rowe for a goal against Leitrim, and popped a pass for Chloe Darby to raise a white flag in the last eight win over Cork.

From frees, play, scoring and creating, even off limited touches, the pace-setter in the race for the Golden Boot award is so hard to handle because of her remarkable efficiency.

An FAI Cup, Six Nations rugby and All-Ireland football winner, Tyrrell has already done it all. But based on this season's form she's pushing for more.
