Lauren Magee has paid tribute to recently departed Dublin football manager Mick Bohan, praising what he has brought to the county in an era of unrivalled success.

Last month Bohan informed the Dublin County Board that he did not wish to be considered for ratification, bringing the curtain down on eight years in charge.

In that time he led the Dubs to five of their six All-Ireland titles, along with half a dozen Leinster championships and two victorious league campaigns.

Kilmacud Crokes player Magee has been a key part of that success, and speaking ahead of her club's All-Ireland final against Kilkerrin-Clonberne this weekend at Croke Park, she was keen to stress the importance Bohan has had on her career.

"He’s done an awful lot for Dublin," she told RTÉ Sport. "I have become 10 times a better footballer under him and the coaches he has brought in.

"I have a lot of respect for Mick and will always thank him for what the has done for Dublin.

"I wish him all the success in whatever he plans in doing and having a bit more time with his family."
