The Seattle Seahawks clinched a play-off spot as they snatched a 38-37 overtime victory over NFC West title rivals the Los Angeles Rams.

Sam Darnold's touchdown pass to Jaxon Smith-Njigba came in response to a Rams score early in the extra period and the quarterback found Eric Saubert for a two-yard conversion to claim victory.

Matthew Stafford, who threw for 457 yards and three touchdowns, found Puka Nacua for a 41-yard score in overtime.

Stafford’s earlier touchdown pass to Nacua had given the Rams a 30-14 lead early in the fourth quarter, but Rashid Shaheed returned a punt 42 yards and Darnold found AJ Barner from 26 yards two minutes later as the Seahawks levelled with a pair of two-point conversions.

The second conversion was initially ruled out as Darnold’s pass bounced off a Rams player’s helmet into the end zone, but a video review ruled his pass was backwards and play was allowed to continue to the point where the Seahawks Zach Charbonnet picked it up for the score.

The win lifts the Seahawks to 12-3 and above the Rams (11-4) at the top of the division and as top seed in the NFC.
