The New Orleans Saints have promoted Co Down kicker Charlie Smyth to their active roster ahead of Sunday's NFL showdown with the Miami Dolphins.
The Mayobridge man looks set to make his regular season debut for the Saints having been moved up from the practice squad the day before the trip to Florida.
It's thought that the struggling Saints had auditioned several candidates for the placekicking role ahead of the Dolphins tie and Smyth has beat out the competition to gain the spot.

The 24-year-old ex-Down goalkeeper began his NFL journey at the end of 2023, just six months on from being a Tailteann Cup runner-up with his county. By March of that year, he was the first GAA player to sign a contract with the NFL.
The 2-9 Saints take on the 4-7 Dolphins at 6pm Sunday, Irish time.
