The Atlanta Braves have claimed their first title in 26 years as they comprehensively defeated the Houston Astros 7-0 in Game 6 to take the World Series 4-2.
The home side had forced Tuesday's encounter with a gritty 9-5 result in Georgia but Houston had no answers as they suffered the most lopsided loss in a deciding game since Kansas City defeated St Louis 11-0 in 1985.
Jorge Soler opened Atlanta's account with a three-run homer in the third inning before Dansby Swanson hit a two-run homer in the fifth.
Later in the inning Freddie Freeman doubled for Soler to score, with Freeman returning in the seventh to smack a 416-foot homer which ensured the young Braves lifted the club's first championship since 1995.
