Rookie quarterback Joe Burrow has continued to impress for the Cincinnati Bengals, albeit in another losing effort, as they went down 35-30 to the Cleveland Browns.

After picking up 193 yards through the air and crossing for a rushing touchdown against the Los Angeles Chargers last week, Burrow looked even more comfortable in his second game.

The number one overall pick threw for 316 yards and three touchdowns last night, however Cincinnati's defence struggled against Cleveland’s diverse offence and a much-improved Baker Mayfield.

The Browns quarterback bounced back from a lacklustre effort against the Baltimore Ravens in week one to throw for two touchdowns, to Karreem Hunt and Odell Beckham Jr.

Meanwhile the Bengals were unable to contend with Cleveland’s ground game, as Nick Chubb crossed for two touchdowns and finished with one.

Mayfield completed 16 of 23 passes for 219 yards and one interception while Chubb ran for 124 yards on 22 carries and Hunt rushed for 86 yards on 10 carries. Myles Garrett also had a key strip-sack for the Browns.

Burrow was 37 of 61 for 316 yards and Randy Bullock kicked three field goals after missing a last-second attempt Sunday that would have tied a game against the Los Angeles Chargers.

The contest was played in front of approximately 6,000 fans, the maximum approved by Ohio Governor Mike DeWine for Cleveland's two September home games amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Burrow tossed a four-yard scoring pass to Mike Thomas to move Cincinnati within five points, 28-23, with 5:55 left. The Browns answered with a six-play, 75-yard drive capped by Hunt's one-yard run to restore a 12-point advantage with 3:55 left.

Burrow added a 9-yard scoring pass to Tyler Boyd with 43 seconds left before the Browns recovered the onside kick and ran out the clock.
