The Kansas City Royals and the New York Mets are both one win away from reaching the World Series after they each secured victories on Tuesday.
The Royals, who are bidding to reach the final stage for the second successive year, took a 3-1 advantage in the American League Championship Series with a 14-2 thrashing of the Toronto Blue Jays.
And the Mets extended their lead to 3-0 in the National League Championship Series with a 5-2 success against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field.
Daniel Murphy hit a home run for the fifth successive game as the Mets moved within touching distance of a first World Series since 2000.
At Rogers Centre, Toronto pitcher Robert Allen Dickey gave up four runs in the first innings - including a two-run homer from Ben Zobrist - before Alex Rios hit a home run in the second off Dickey to make it 5-0.
Toronto pulled two runs back in the third, but the Royals confirmed their dominance with another four runs in the seventh, before picking up five more in the final two innings.
Kansas can wrap up the series on Wednesday night in game five at Rogers Centre, while the Mets can finish off the Cubs on the same night.
