A regular captain for Dan McFarland's side, Herring scored six tries in 19 games last season.
Born in Cape Town but Irish qualified since birth, the hooker has won 28 caps since his debut in 2014, and scored a crucial try in Ireland's decisive third Test win against the All Blacks in July 2022.
