The former Munster man hit the ground running in his first season at Connacht, playing 19 games and scoring 137 points, including three tries.
By the end of the season, the Kerryman appeared to have overtaken Jack Carty as first-choice 10 for the province, but a serious knee injury is set to sideline him until early 2025.
As well as playing in two spells for his native Munster, the former Ireland U20 out-half has also had spells at Northampton Saints, Clermont Auvergne and Dragons.
