O'Brien joined Connacht in the summer of 2023 and made a solid impression in his first season, scoring two tries in nine games.
A product of the Leinster academy, the back row made three senior appearances for the province while also enjoying a short spell with the LA Giltinis in MLR.
Born in Pittsburgh, O'Brien was part of the Ireland U20s side whose 2020 Six Nations Championship was cancelled due to Covid-19.
