Murphy links back up with the Connacht squad this season, having taken a sabbatical from the professional game in 2023/24 as he concentrated on his medical studies.
The Enniscorthy man originally joined Connacht from Leinster in the summer of 2022, and was a vital member of the side that season, playing 18 games, with 17 of those in the starting team.
While he didn't play professionally during 2023/24, the versatile forward togged out in the Energia All Ireland League with Clontarf.
