Ireland U20 international Sam Illo joined Connacht on a two-year deal in the summer of 2021, having played all five games for Ireland during the U20 Six Nations Championship.

The Old Wesley prop previously represented Leinster at underage level.

He played twice for Connacht in the 2021/22 season, making his debut in the Champions Cup defeat to Stade Francais in Paris in January 2022.
