Heffernan reached 200 games for his home province in the final game of the 2023/24 season, becoming the eighth Connacht player to hit a double-century.
The Mayo man initially joined Connacht's academy as a back row, before converting to hooker in 2013.
Won the most recent of his seven Ireland caps in the summer of 2022, but was a late call-up to the Irish squad on the summer tour of South Africa in 2024 following injury to Dan Sheehan.
