Former Munster pair Gerbrandt Grobler and Thomas du Toit will both start against their former side, in the Cell C Sharks' United Rugby Championship opener at Thomond Park this Saturday (live on RTÉ2 and RTÉ Player).

The pair are included in a settled Sharks team, showing just two changes from their Currie Cup final defeat to the Bulls just a fortnight ago.

One of the players to come into the side is Ulster legend Ruan Pienaar. The scrum-half recently joined on loan from the Cheetahs, returning to the club were he began his career.

The names of Grobler and Du Toit will be instantly recognisable to Munster fans.

Grobler joined the province in the summer of 2017, but stayed just one season following intense media scrutiny over a previous two-year doping suspension.

It won't be the second row's first return to Thomond Park since leaving in 2018 though, having played in Limerick with Gloucester in the 2018/19 Heineken Champions Cup.

Du Toit featured six times for Munster during the 2016-17, arriving on a short-term contract as injury cover.

The 26-year-old tighthead has spent the rest of his career with the Sharks, and has gone on to win 13 Springbok caps, including a World Cup winners medal in 2019.

The Sharks team contains nine players who started at least one of their meetings with the British and Irish Lions this summer, including all-action centre Werner Kok, and captain Phepsi Buthelezi.

Sharks: Curwin Bosch; Yaw Penxe, Werner Kok, Marius Louw, Thaakir Abrahams; Boeta Chamberlain, Ruan Pienaar; Khwezi Mona, Kerron van Vuuren, Thomas du Toit; Le Roux Roets, Gerbrandt Grobler; Dylan Richardson, Henco Venter, Phepsi Buthelezi

Replacements: Fez Mbatha, Ntuthuko Mchuno, Khutha Mchunu, Hyron Andrews, Ruben van Heerden, Mpilo Gumede, Sanele Nohamba, Jeremy Ward
