Kei Nishikori denies Taylor Fritz in Memphis Open decider

Kei Nishikori won his fourth consecutive Memphis Open title with a 6-4 6-4 victory over American teenager Taylor Fritz.

Nishikori joined Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and novak Djokovic as the only active players to win four consecutive titles at a tournament.

Fritz made the perfect start as he claimed 12 of the first 14 points and raced into a 2-0 lead in the opening set but Nishikori rediscovered his composure to level at 2-2 before going to to win the first set.

He secured the decisive break in the second at 3-2 and a forehand winner on his third match point claimed victory in one hour and 19 minutes.
