Dominic Thiem beat top seed David Goffin in the final of the Swiss Open to win his third ATP World Tour event of the year.

The 21-year-old Austrian made it back-to-back successes as he followed up his victory at the Croatia Open with a 7-5 6-2 win over Goffin.

Thiem is now closing in on a place in the top 20 and proved too strong for world number 14 Goffin in Gstaad.

The Belgian showed early resilience to come from 3-1 down in the first set, breaking twice in a row before a double-fault led to the opener being levelled at 5-5.

Thiem took advantage to take the first set and then, after dropping serve at the start of the second, he turned up the heat to take six out of the next seven games and continue his hot streak.
