Tomas Berdych moved to within a victory of retaining his ABN Amro World Tennis title in Rotterdam today with a crushing 6-2 6-1 defeat of Frenchman Gilles Simon.
The Czech third seed was totally dominant, offering up only one point on his serve throughout the 58-minute contest.
"My game was good and the game plan was even better," Berdych, who will play either second seed Milos Raonic or fourth seed Stanislas Wawrinka in the final, said on the ATP's website.
"It was a very good game. I need to keep going as there is still one more match to go. I want to go all the way."
Simon had beaten top seed Andy Murray on Friday but could not cope with the Berdych onslaught.
"We have worked really hard on my serve. I was able to control it today," added Berdych.
Berdych's opponent in Sunday's final will be fellow Australian Open semi-finalist Stan Wawrinka.
The Swiss fourth seed had to dig deep to see off the challenge of Milos Raonic in straight sets.
Canadian Raonic, the second seed in Rotterdam, had six break points during the match but failed to convert any of them and it needed two tie-breaks to settle things, with Wawrinka emerging a 7-6 (7/3) 7-6 (9/7) winner.
