17.50 Rafael Nadal has won his first round match against 18-year-old Gianni Mina 6-2 6-2 6-2, but it took two hours 23 minutes - it wasn't all that easy, the young Frenchman is a name for the future. This was his first senior tournament and based on today, he has a bright career ahead of him.
Nadal will face Argentine Horacio Zeballos next after he beat Austrian Martin Fischer 8-6 in the fifth and final set. He'd better get some rest!
17.45 Yanina Wickmayer of Belgium, the 16th seed in the women's draw, has coasted into the second round with a 6-1 6-1 win over Sandra Zahlavova from the Czech Republic.
Rafa update - he's broken Mina again in the third and now leads 5-2 and will serve for the match shortly.
