Former world number one Amelie Mauresmo is considering calling time on her career.

The 30-year-old Frenchwoman, currently ranked 20 in the world, has not played on the WTA Tour since suffering a second-round exit to Aleksandra Wozniak at the US Open a month ago.

The two-time Grand Slam winner has pulled out of her remaining two events of the season at Linz and Luxembourg and admitted she would use the time to decide whether to retire.

‘Since I came back from the US Open, I've been trying to practice but I can't find again the desire to come back to competition,’ she told her official website, www.ameliemauresmo.fr.

‘I don't want to rush or force things. I will take some time to think before making a decision regarding the remainder of my career.’

Mauresmo claimed her two grand slam titles in 2006, with victory in the Australian Open and Wimbledon.

She claimed her 25th tour title at Paris in February - her first for two years - but has struggled with injury in recent months, with an abdominal strain having kept her out of action since Flushing Meadows.
