Ireland’s number one tennis player Conor Niland took a significant scalp in the first round of the ATP Challenge Tour event in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on Tuesday evening when he scored a 3-6 6-3 6-1 victory over number three seed Frank Dancevic of Canada.
Dancevic is currently ranked 111 in the world but has been as high as 65. Niland, currently ranked 272 in the world, next plays the Serb qualifier Vladimir Obradovic for a place in the quarter-finals of the $50,000 tournament.
