Top seed Flavia Pennetta moved on to the final of the Abierto Mexicano Telcel with a 6-4 6-2 win over Estonia's Kaia Kanepi on Friday.

Pennetta has made a living out of reaching the championship match at this event, doing so each of the last five years. However, the Italian has just one trophy to show for it, claiming the title in 2005.

Improving to 23-4 at this event, Pennetta recorded the only two aces of the match while saving four of the five break points she faced.

Pennetta will meet second seed Alize Cornet in the final, as the Frenchwoman cruised to a 6-2 6-2 triumph over American Jill Craybas in the other semi-final match.

The 18-year-old Cornet, who lost to Pennetta in the quarter-finals here last year, fired four aces - the only ones of the match - en route to the 71-minute victory.
