Wicklow's Deirdre Byrne finished in eighth place, while Orla Drumm from Limerick came in tenth.

Tennis player Colin O'Brien was in action in the third round of the men's singles.

Despite a spirited performance, O'Brien lost out by two sets to one (7-6, 4-6, 0-6) to the highly rated fifth seed; Jan Stancik of Slovakia.
