Wimbledon round-up: Men's singles

Marat Safin will take on four-time champion Roger Federer in the last 32 after beating Pakistan's Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi in straight sets in the second round.

Spain's Tommy Robredo became the highest seed to fall so far, the 11th seed losing in straight sets to veteran Australian Wayne Arthurs.

But elsewhere there were victories for Ivan Ljubicic, Tommy Haas, James Blake, Dmitry Tursunov, Juan Carlos Ferrero, Jarkko Nieminen and Jonas Bjorkman.

Arthurs, 36, is scheduled to retire after Wimbledon but first faces Bjorkman in the third round, the veteran pair having a combined age of 71.

Former champion Lleyton Hewitt cruised into the last 32 with a straight sets win over Italian Simone Bolelli, the 16th seed winning 6-2 6-2 6-1.

Second seed Rafael Nadal enjoyed an easy passage into the third round with a straight sets victory over Austrian Werner Eschauer.

Nadal actually lost the first two games in the first set but roared back to take the next six in a row.

The French Open champion was in total command from then on, eventually winning 6-2 6-4 6-1.
