Andy Murray believes he is hitting top form at exactly the right time after progressing to the semi-finals of the Morgan Keegan Championships in Memphis.

The Scot set up a last-four meeting with top seed Andy Roddick after beating Stefan Koubek 6-3 6-2 in the quarter-final.

'That's the best match I have played so far,' Murray said after beating Austrian Koubek.

'I hit the ball really well from the ground, didn't make too many unforced errors and took my chances when I had them.

'That's two matches in a row where I haven't dropped my serve and that's a good run to be on.'

Having beaten Denmark's Kristian Pless in two sets to secure his showdown with Koubek 24 hours earlier, Murray was already showing the kind of form that brought him victory at the SAP Open in San Jose last week.

The 19-year-old was quickly into his stride and while his own serve looked strong, he soon broke his Austrian opponent.

Despite letting set point slip, the Scot took the first set comfortably 6-3 with Koubek unable to make any inroads on the Murray serve.

Murray broke again in the third game of the second set after the first two games had followed serve.

The British number one looked in danger of conceding a break for the first time in the following game but survived two break points to shatter Koubek's resistance and race into a 3-1 lead.

He extended that advantage again in the following game, completing a second consecutive break of serve before holding his own to take a stranglehold on the match.

Koubek successfully defended match point at 5-1 down and then took his second game of the set before Murray secured his passage to the last four.

Roddick overcame Yen-Hsun Lu of Chinese Taipei in straight sets in his quarter-final, 6-4 7-6 (9/7).

Murray beat the American at the same stage on his way to victory in San Jose last week.

The first-ever meeting between the number four seed and Lu proved a close contest and despite serving well, Roddick was still forced to save three break points against his durable opponent, who had to fend off seven of his own.

Lu had looked in a good position to level the match when he broke Roddick in the second set, but the American broke right back to force a tie-break, which he eventually claimed to set up a second meeting with world number 13 Murray.

The other semi-final will be between Tommy Haas and Mardy Fish as both players comfortably came through their last eight encounters, meaning all four top seeds will battle it out for the Memphis title.

Number two seed Haas had little trouble seeing off American qualifier Sam Querrey, who had impressed in beating Ivo Karlovic and number seven seed Julien Benneteau this week.

The German triumphed 6-2 6-2 and did not face a single break point for the third consecutive match.

Fourth seed Fish was the beneficiary of a retirement by Russian opponent Teimuraz Gabashvili.

The American was leading 6-2 4-1 when Gabashvili declared he could not continue due to a stomach virus.

In the women's tournament, top-seed Shahar Peer continued her flawless record in beating Meilen Tu 6-4 7-5 to have a shot at her fourth WTA Tour title in Saturday's final of the Cellular South Cup.

The 19-year-old Israeli is yet to drop a set but was pushed all the way by her American opponent in a match that lasted just over two hours.

Peer will face Venus Williams, the seventh seed having little trouble dispatching 17-year-old Romanian Ioana Olaru 6-3 6-2 as her comeback from injury continued apace.
