Top seed Rafael Nadal breezed through to the quarter-finals of the ATP Chennai Open on Thursday, but seventh seed Paradorn Srichaphan crashed out.

Nadal had little trouble in overcoming home favourite Karan Rastogi in straight sets, 6-4 6-1, to secure his place in the last eight.

But seventh-seeded Thai Srichaphan could only manage three games as he was eliminated in emphatic style by Austrian Stefan Koubek.

Number six seed Fabrice Santoro of France also progressed courtesy of a 6-4 6-2 triumph over German Bjorn Phau.

Nadal will meet Davide Sanguinetti in the quarter-finals, the Italian having beaten eighth-seeded Frenchman Nicolas Mahut 7-6 (8/6) 3-6 6-3 in the second round on Thursday.

Koubek will face Julien Benneteau in the last eight after the number four seed from France saw off Russia's Igor Andreev, 7-6 (7/4) 6-2.
