Meghann Shaughnessy enjoyed a major confidence boost in the build-up to the US Open as she came from a set down to beat Anna Smashnova in the final of the Forest Hills Women's Tennis Classic in New York on Saturday.
The American was dominated by her Israeli opponent in the opening set but recovered to claim her second title of the year with a 1-6 6-0 6-4 win.
Shaughnessy, who won in Morocco in Mary and reached the quarter-finals of the JPMorgan Chase Open in Los Angeles earlier this month, meets Italian Roberta Vinci in the opening round at Flushing Meadows next week.
Smashnova, who missed out on her second title of 2006, faces a tough first round encounter at the US Open against eighth seed Patty Schnyder of Switzerland.
