Kim Clijsters enjoyed a brisk 49-minute workout against Polish wildcard Agnieszka Radwanska to reach the Wimbledon quarter-finals with a 6-2 6-2 win.
Radwanska, 17, had become the first Polish woman to reach the fourth round of a grand slam but Clijsters exploited her inexperience on the big stage to pull off a routine victory.
'I feel good, I'd prefer to be here than to be sitting at home now,' said the Belgian second seed, who was knocked out in the fourth round last year.
The US Open champion has now dropped just 17 games en route to the last eight but believes she still has to make some improvements to her game if she to progress further in the tournament.
'The serve was a little bit off today,' said Clijsters, who could reclaim the world number one ranking next week.
Clijsters also predicted a promising future for Radwanska, who made her grand slam debut at Wimbledon. 'She's a really good player. She's so young but already has a really good game,' said Clijsters.
'She's not the type of player who makes a lot of unforced errors. She moves well. Her serve is something that can get a lot better. That will give her a lot of free points once she starts playing against the higher ranked players.'
Clijsters will next meet Li Na, who became the first Chinese player to reach the last eight of a grand slam singles event thanks to her upset win over Czech 10th seed Nicole Vaidisova.
