Spain's Rafael Nadal cruised past Mardy Fish just 48 hours after winning a second French Open title,  earning a silky-smooth 7-6 (7/1) 6-1 second round victory at  Queen's Club today.

Surely inspired by his country's 3-0 World Cup win over Ukraine which ended just as the world number two was hitting up on the grass of west London, Nadal spent just 75 minutes in successfully making the switch of surface.

The Challenger title that 86th-ranked Fish won at the weekend in Surbiton counted for little as Nadal's raw talent prevailed.

Nadal improved his 2006 record to 36-3 with five titles; he is riding a 25- match win streak since losing to Carlos Moya in Miami last March.

Second-seeded Roland Garros semi-finalist Ivan Ljubicic rolled over Romanian Razvan Sabau 7-6 (8/6) 6-2 to reach the third round after the bye given to the top eight seeds.

Holder Andy Roddick took an unsteady step towards a fourth consecutive title as he battled past inspired Canadian qualifier Frank Dancevic 2-6 6-4 6-3.

After a partial rain-out on Tuesday, the day's programme was crammed with 20 matches taking place.

Home fans were left disappointed as Andy Murray crashed out to Serb Janko Tipsarevic 7-6 (7/3) 3-6 6-2.

Former runner-up Tim Henman filled the British void as he beat Ramon Delgado of Paraguay 6-2 6-4.
