Fourth seed Ivan Ljubicic shattered Julien Benneteau's French Open dreams by cruising past the home favourite to advance to the semi-finals of the tournament for the first time in his career.
The 27-year-old Croat, whose previous best grand slam appearance was a quarter-final berth at the Australian Open, needed just two hours and 13 minutes to oust Benneteau, ranked 95th in the world, 6-2 6-2 6-3.
After easily taking the first set, Ljubicic took a 2-0 lead at the start of the second but was pegged back to 2-2 by Benneteau.
Ljubicic broke to take a 4-2 lead when Benneteau's forehand went wide and sealed the set as Benneteau missed an easy smash on set point.
Ljubicic encountered few problems in the third set, with the victory earning him the dubious honour of a last-four meeting with defending champion and tournament favourite Rafael Nadal of Spain.
