Ireland fall to Finns in Davis Cup

Ireland's Luke Sorensen was beaten by Finland's Jarko Nieminen this morning to ensure the Finns took outright victory in their Davis Cup tie in Helsinki.

The Fitzwilliam LTC man went down 6-4 6-1 6-0 to give the hosts an unassailable 3-1 lead over Ireland, with just one reverse singles rubber to play.

Ireland's next outing in the Davis Cup is a meeting with the losers of the Algeria Slovenia tie in Dublin in July. (Algeria are currently close to winning that match.)

More to follow.
