Martina Hingis' dream of winning a tournament just a month into her comeback turned into a nightmare as she was routed in the final of the Toray Pan Pacific Open in Tokyo.
The Swiss star was beaten 6-2 6-0 by second seed Elena Dementieva.
Hingis, who retired over two years ago due to foot and ankle injuries, had beaten top seed Maria Sharapova in the semi-finals but was unable to show the same form in the final.
She could not cope with the powerful serve and groundstrokes of the Russian who had her chasing all over the court.
