Defending champion Andy Roddick was outgunned by Joachim Johansson in a five-set thriller in the quarter-finals of the US Open.
Roddick, the second seed, lost 6-4 6-4 3-6 2-6 6-4 when Johansson, the 28th seed from Sweden, weathered a stirring comeback to hang on for victory at Arthur Ashe Stadium.
"It finally came good for me", Johansson said after his two-hour, 55-minute epic set up a semi-final against fourth seed Lleyton Hewitt.
The matchup poses a dilemma for Johansson's girlfriend, Jaslyn - Hewitt's younger sister.
"She can pick her boyfriend but she can't pick her brother, so she is going to pick me for sure", claimed Johansson.
