Wimbledon will retain its traditional mid-June slot on the tennis calendar in2005. The ATP, governing body of professional men's tennis, have given their approval to a 2005 calendar which schedules Wimbledon to begin in the week of June 20, 2005.
All four grand slam tournaments have kept their usual places on the calendar, with the Australian Open to be the first major event of the 2005 season when it starts on January 17. The French Open takes place in the week of May 23 while the US Open starts on August 29.
