Henman wins in straight sets

Tim Henman has made a good start at the Paris Master Series defeating Czech Radek Stepanek 6-1 7-5 to reach the third round. Sixth seed Henman, who received a bye into the second round, recorded breaks in the second and sixth games of the first set to easily take it 6-1.

However, it was a much tighter contest in the second, which appeared certain to reach a tie-break before Henman broke serve in the 11th game and held serve to take the set and the match.

Stepanek beat former world number one Gustavo Kuerten in the first round and had improved his ranking from 547 to 68 in the past 12 months.
