Lindsay Davenport returns to the court today after a nine month injury layoff to lead the United States into a crucial Fed Cup World Group play-off battle with Israel. Sidelined with a knee injury since last November, Davenport will take on Israeli number one and world number 16 Anna Smashnova in the opening match of a tie that will promote the winner back to the prestigious World Group next year.
