Kournikova straining under pressure

The pressure of combining a high-profile life off the court with a successful career on it may finally be getting to Russian beauty Anna Kournikova. The 21-year-old has had more joy on the catwalk than on the WTA Tour recently and yesterday crashed out of Wimbledon in the first round to compatriot Tatiana Panova.

Afterwards, Kournikova was less than impressed with the interview technique of BBC journalist Garry Richardson. When asked whether her confidence was low after the 6-1 4-6 6-4 defeat, Kournikova threatened to walk out and asked if the interview could be restarted.

She eventually resumed her seat, saying: "You're asking a question and then you're saying my confidence is low so you're answering it. Who are you to say my confidence is low?"

Kournikova went on to stress her off-court commitments were not having an affect on her form - but the stress was clear for all to see.
