Andre Agassi collected his 50th career ATP title with victory over Juan Balcells in the Franklin Templeton Classic yesterday. The top seed beat the Spaniard 6-2 7-6 in the tournament in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Already one of just five men to win all four Grand Slams, Agassi became only the eighth in the Open era (post-1968) to clock up the half century. The 31-year-old American joins Jimmy Connors, Ivan Lendl, John McEnroe, Pete Sampras, Bjorn Borg, Guillermo Vilas and Ilie Nastase on the elite list.
